Matthew Cunningham PhD

Matthew was awarded a First Class Honours degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Kent at Canterbury, and obtained a PhD from the University of Surrey, where he investigated the role of the EGFR, EGFRvIII and IGF-IR tyrosine kinase growth factor receptors in colorectal cancer. Matthew then completed postdoctoral research positions at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal and the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, where he investigated the role of the insulin, IGF-IR and HER-2 tyrosine kinase growth factor receptors in prostate and breast cancer. During his time in postdoctoral research, Matthew has also worked on projects investigating the isolation and characterisation of breast cancer stem cells from human tumours.
Matthew joined Alpha-Plus as an Editorial Assistant in December 2009 and was promoted to Medical Writer in May 2010, just 5 months after joining the company.
